We keep this simple. We collect only what we need, we don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone who doesn't need it to run this service.

Who We Are

DropIT Focus Method is a focus and thought-management tool built and operated by DropIT Focus Method Inc. at dropitmethod.com. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@dropitmethod.com.

Privacy Officer New

As required under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), DropIT Focus Method Inc. has designated a Privacy Officer accountable for the organisation's compliance with this policy. For all privacy-related questions, requests, or concerns, contact:

What We Collect

We collect only information that is necessary to provide the service:

  • Account information — your name and email address when you sign up
  • Usage data — sessions completed, exercises used, focus quiz results, and progress data you generate while using DropIT Focus Method
  • Thought log content — personal notes and thought records you choose to save within the service (see the section below on sensitive content)
  • Email address (non-account) — if you submit your email via a sign-up form or the focus session widget without creating a full account, we collect that address for the purpose you consented to (e.g., email communications)
  • Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details
  • Device and browser data — basic technical information such as browser type and device, used to keep the service working correctly
  • Analytics data — aggregated, anonymised data about how pages and features are used, collected to improve the service

Sensitive Content: Your Thought Log New

The thought log is where you may record private mental experiences, including intrusive thoughts, emotions, and personal reflections. We treat this content as sensitive personal data and handle it with the highest level of care.

  • Your thought log content belongs entirely to you — we make no claim of ownership
  • It is never shared with third parties, used in advertising, or used to train AI or machine learning models
  • It is stored with encrypted connections and access-controlled databases
  • It is never used to improve the DropIT product without your explicit, separate consent
  • You can delete your thought log entries at any time from within your account
  • Upon account deletion, all thought log data is permanently removed within 30 days

How We Use It

  • To provide and improve the DropIT Focus Method service
  • To personalise your focus insights and exercise recommendations
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To send you service-related emails (account, billing, product updates)
  • To send you marketing communications, where you have provided consent under CASL
  • To understand how people use DropIT Focus Method so we can make it better

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. Ever.

Who We Share It With Updated

We only share your data with the third-party services that power DropIT Focus Method. Each provider is bound by contractual obligations to handle your data only as directed by us:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Vercel — website hosting
  • MailerLite — email list management and marketing communications
  • Tally.so — in-product surveys and feedback collection

We do not share your data with any other third parties. We do not sell your data to anyone, for any reason.

International Data Transfers New

Some of our third-party service providers — including Supabase, Stripe, Vercel, MailerLite, and Tally.so — are based in or operate infrastructure in the United States and other countries outside Canada. As a result, your personal data may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in jurisdictions that have different data protection laws than Canada.

When this occurs, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place through contractual agreements with each provider. However, you should be aware that data transferred outside Canada may be subject to access by foreign governments, courts, or law enforcement under applicable local laws.

By using DropIT Focus Method, you consent to this transfer as described in this policy.

Cookies and Analytics Updated

We use two categories of cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Essential cookies — required to keep you logged in and the service functioning correctly. These cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality
  • Analytics cookies — used to understand how visitors interact with DropIT Focus Method (e.g., which pages are visited, how features are used). This data is aggregated and anonymised. We do not use advertising or behavioural tracking cookies

You may be able to disable analytics cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not affect your ability to use the service.

Email Communications and CASL New

DropIT Focus Method Inc. complies with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We send commercial electronic messages only to those who have provided express or implied consent.

  • Submitting your email address via any form or widget on our site constitutes consent to receive communications from DropIT Focus Method Inc.
  • Every marketing email includes a clear and functional unsubscribe link
  • You may withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email or by contacting us at hello@dropitmethod.com
  • Unsubscribe requests are processed within 10 business days
  • We do not share your email address with third parties for their marketing purposes

Children and Minor Users Updated

DropIT Focus Method accounts are available only to users aged 13 and over. Users aged 13 to 17 require parental or guardian consent to create an account.

In supervised educational settings, students under 13 may interact with DropIT Focus Method tools without creating an account, provided that a qualified teacher or educational professional facilitates access and no personal data from the student is submitted to the service.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 outside of the supervised educational use described above. If you believe a child has submitted personal data without appropriate consent, contact us immediately at hello@dropitmethod.com and we will take prompt steps to delete it.

Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Export your data in a readable format
  • Withdraw consent to non-essential communications at any time
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights have been violated

To exercise any of these rights, email our Privacy Officer at hello@dropitmethod.com. We will acknowledge your request promptly and respond in full within 30 days.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service. Specifically:

  • Account data is retained until you delete your account
  • Upon account deletion, personal data is removed from active systems within 30 days
  • Thought log content is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Anonymised and aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes
  • Billing records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by applicable tax and financial regulations

Security

We take reasonable and appropriate steps to protect your data — including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication, and restricted access to databases. Sensitive content such as thought logs is handled with additional care. No system is 100% secure, but we treat your data as if it were our own.

In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will notify you by email or by a notice on the site before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when it was last updated. Continued use of DropIT Focus Method after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
